The perfect base to explore the waterways…

Staffordshire isn’t known as ‘the canal county’ for nothing. Located between the industrial hubs of The Potteries to the north and the Black Country to the south, the 154 miles of canal that criss-cross Staffordshire’s rolling countryside were once bustling arteries transporting the goods and raw materials that fuelled the industrial revolution.

Exploring further afield…

Nowadays, they are tranquil oases that offer a home to wild flora and fauna while offering a wonderful way for boaters to explore the county’s rich history and stunning scenery at leisure. Located at Lock No.26 on the Trent and Mersey canal, Aston Marina is ideally placed as a gateway to the canal network; offering a luxurious base from which to journey the waterways locally or further afield.

Thanks to its central location, Staffordshire is a great base from which to embark on longer cruises, including the legendary Four Counties Ring. Several other Midlands’ waterways are also easily accessed within Staffordshire – including the Caldon Canal, Macclesfield Canal, Shropshire Union Canal, Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal, Llangollen Canal, Birmingham & Fazeley Canal and Coventry Canal opening up the nationwide canal network.

History, food & countryside on the doorstep...

While the marina itself boasts an award-winning restaurant that welcomes moorers, less that a mile’s stroll north along the towpath lies the pretty market town of Stone, with its regular farmers’ and craft markets, boutique shops and renowned foodie scene.
